Writer, Artist, Academic
My name is Abi, and I have been writing short stories and plotting out novels for as long as I can remember. Scribbling down notes in the back of exercise books, drawing characters on old receipts, and drafting up chapters for my next story in between everything else.
I wrote my first novel-length piece at the age of 14, and this opened the floodgates into a life of being verbose and writerly.
In 2017, I finished a 110k YA pirate fantasy. In 2018, I wrote what I hope to be my debut novel, a YA portal fantasy. And then in 2023, I completed my largest work to date, a YA queer romance.
Since finishing that first piece in 2013, I have written over 200 short stories, alongside five novel-length manuscripts, and more than 1100 poems.
To date, I have written almost 2 million words.
With all this, and two Literature degrees, it’s safe to say I’m passionate about writing and storytelling. And yes – this absolutely transfers into my editorial work.
When I’m not writing, reading, or editing, I can be found painting! I love to work in oil paints, both on canvas and in digital formats. I also enjoy creating prints and covers for other authors.

Editing
I have been editing for other people for almost ten years, in both fiction and non-fiction.
I started my editorial journey in online competitions, helping out fellow team mates both for their competition pieces, and in work outside of it. I have edited over 800 short stories, several academic essays and theses, and multiple novel-length manuscripts.
I have worked in many different fiction genres over the years, from historical fiction, to urban and high fantasy, to lit-fic style pieces. I can work across YA, Adult literature, and middle grade.
My specialism is in line editing; because of my many years of writing experience, and my formal Literature education, I am easily able to pull apart sentences to discern their purpose and meaning, and then, with this knowledge, transform them.
I can expertly trim wordcount, improve flow, and give writers the space and opportunity to deepen the rest of their story – all whilst preserving their voice.
